The Essential Guide to Step Hero RPG Part 1: HERO Characters And Combat Mechanics
In the first part of The Essential Guide, we’re going to show you some basic information about hero characters as well as the combat mechanics in the game.

HERO Character’s Star Ranks
Each hero has 6-star ranks. Each rank has 60 levels. To upgrade a Hero to a higher star rank, players must complete all 60 levels and pay an amount of $STEP coin, the in-game currency. The higher star ranks require more STEP coins to upgrade.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 1/8: Formation Set Up
Before a combat, players have to set up their formation in a 3x3 square (9 slots) by dragging the heroes from the top scrollbar into their desired slot.
Players can put maximum 5 heroes in their lineup.
Upon finishing setting up, players can choose “Ready” to start the combat.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 2/8: Attacking Order
A HERO’s attacking order depends on their Speed stats. A hero with higher Speed will strike first. That will count as one turn for that hero.
If there are at least 2 Heroes with the same Speed, the order will be decided as followed:
👉 If there’re 2 Heroes, the game will randomly choose one to make the first move.
👉 If there’re an odd number of Heroes, the side with more heroes will move first, then the other side. After that the turn keeps switching until one side has no more heroes.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 3/8: Targeting Mechanics
🎯Targeting general rules (priority order):
⚡️Always aim the front line first, then the middle line, then the back line.
⚡️In the chosen line, aim the same row first, then the row next to it, then the furthest row.
⚡️If the hero is in the middle row and there’s no target in the same row, aim top row first.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 4/8: In-game Formulas
In #StepHeroRPG, there are formulas for calculating important stats including: Damage, Critical Damage, Critical Attack Percentage, Hit Chance Success, Debuff Chance Success.
Experienced players can create strategies based on the formulas to increase the probability of winning.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 5/8: Buffs
Buffs are temporary effects that boost Heroes in battles.💪
Players can use BUFFS to increase speed, damage, defense, and create shield to block damage from enemies.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 5/8: DeBuffs
Debuffs are temporary effects that hinder Heroes in battles.💪
Players can use DEBUFFS to decrease enemies’ attack speed, power, damage, blind/freeze/poison the targets, or even make them sleep and disable their skills.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 6/8: Win/Lose Conditions
The winner in the battle is the last one standing.
⚔️ Both sides will fight until one side’s heroes are all wiped out. There is no limit to time or turns and especially, NO DRAW.
Combat Mechanic Series — Part 7/8: Rewards

- EXP (Experience points)
- $STEP
- Equipment Chests
In Adventure mode (PvE), only winning at the 1st try of each stage will earn $STEP or Equipment Chests. From the second attempt, only EXP will be earned.
In PvP mode, victory will give EXP, STEP coins, and occasionally equipment chests.
